IFRAMEs

Post by Rich » Tue Mar 02, 2004 9:00 am

I just wondered.. do all you designers out there think IFRAMEs are bad news? I use it on my site because I'm lazy for a poll box and shoutbox.. but I'd hate to think it's bad practice

Thanks for your input..

Rich.

There is an issue with the normal GoStats code when used in a frame. However using the "simple HTML" code does fix this problem. I'm looking for a fix to this, hope fully it will happen sooner rather than later. :)

I answered no, but don't mind them, but that's not entirely true.

Not that I mind them, just that I don't use them.

I forgot, most of the ad-serving tech on my site (Goggle ads, Amazon) are reliant on iframes. They don't give me any grief. At least, I haven't received any nasty e-mails about them, and if somehting is breaking down on machines out there, I usually get a nasty e-mail about it sooner or later.

I've been toying with the idea of iframes for a some functionality on my site I can't figure any other way of achieving, so I'm kinda curious to see what other people have to say on the subject.

I don't think iframes are bad at all, even though I do not use them either.

I'm afraid I went for no and bad practice although this is not entirely true.
Frames are a particular bug-bear of mine. I have been to quite a few web design forums and there are always posts with people having problems with them.

That said I wouldn't go as far to say that they are bad practice. They can give a very good affect on your page if used properly and you know what your doing with them.

Personally I stay clear of them because I don't want to waste time sorting out any problems that might occur with them.

I use it for a menu. there's a left-hand menu, then archives and I use an iframe for the archive menu to put it on every page of the archives.
Wha?
